About bible distribution

Do people ever read the Bibles in their hotel rooms?

Yes! Each Bible placed in a hotel room has the potential to reach up to 2,300 people in its estimated six-year life span. Research from the hotel industry tells us that approximately 25% of travellers read the Bibles in their hotel rooms.

Can I get Bibles or New Testaments for my church?

No, not from The Gideons International. Our mission is to reach the lost. We do not provide Bibles and New Testaments to our church partners, or other organisations for their distribution. Our unique method is to have only our members distribute Bibles or New Testaments through designated traffic lanes of life, thus efficiently reaching a large number of people. We do not overlap, duplicate, or conflict with the mission of churches and other ministries. Instead, we act as an extended missionary arm of the church.

However, if you become a financial Friend of Gideons, you will get 6 New Testaments for free and will have the opportunity to purchase a further 100 Testaments per year at a cost of only $2 each.

If you're searching for a copy of God's Word for personal use, you can request a bible online.

  • The Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God.

Members must also:

  • Have received Jesus as their personal Saviour.
  • Endeavour to follow Him in their daily lives.

Can I give out Gideon Bibles to my friends and family?

The Gideons can't provide you with Bibles to give to your friends and family, or for your church mission project.  However, if you become a financial Friend of Gideons, you will get 6 New Testaments for free and will have the opportunity to purchase a further 100 Testaments per year at a cost of only $2 each.

Why don't we provide Bibles and New Testaments to individuals, our church partners, or other organisations for their distribution, other than through the Friends of Gideons program? Our mission is to reach the lost.  Our unique method is to have only our members distribute Bibles or New Testaments through designated traffic lanes of life, thus efficiently reaching a large number of people. We do not overlap, duplicate, or conflict with the mission of churches and other ministries. Instead, we act as an extended missionary arm of the church.

Can I get Gideon Bibles for my mission?

We do not provide Bibles and New Testaments to individuals, our church partners, or other organisations for their distribution. Our focus is on the personal distribution and placement of Bibles by our members in Australia. In the case of overseas missions, similar Gideon bodies likewise take on the responsibility of such placements in their countries. The provision of Bibles in bulk for missions is a service covered by other ministries.

However, each financial Friend of Gideons gets 6 free New Testaments and have the opportunity to buy up to 200 New Testaments per year at a cost of only $2 each. If a number of people in your church or mission group became financial Friends of Gideons, you might be able to access enough Testaments for your project.
